Why Bullying Is So Hard to Report (And What Needs to Change)

Share:

People always ask, “Why didn’t you speak up sooner?” “Why didn’t you report it?”

But what they don’t understand is that reporting bullying—especially when it comes from people in power—isn’t that simple.

Bias. Favoritism. Fear. Power imbalances.

These are the invisible walls that stop people from coming forward.

In many communities, the abuser is friends with the principal. The boss. The HR rep. The cop. And when victims do try to speak up, they’re dismissed, discredited, or silenced.

This is exactly why we’re building the Echo Movement app—to make reporting abuse easier, safer, and impossible to ignore.

Because the system fails too many people, too often.
